Brunch is for Planners
Situated on a beautiful seven acre wooded estate, The Wellspring Manor and Spa is a spacious 5,000+ square foot bed and breakfast located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, just 20 miles outside of Washington DC. It boasts five guest rooms complete with cozy fireplaces, well appointed sitting rooms, an en suite and spa-inspired bathrooms. Luxurious amenities and a talented chef-in-residence make this newly launched B&B an ideal spot for a bridal luncheon or intimate wedding reception.
Wanting to showcase the venue to local wedding planners, owners Kevin Alexander and Lisa Brown Alexander tapped Kawania Wooten of Howerton+Wooten Events to plan an intimate gathering of some of the area’s leading wedding industry professionals.
Opting for event design that evoked all the feels of summer, the hosts selected a vibrant color palette of fuchsia, lemon, orange, lime green and bright blue. Fuschia napkins, chair covers, and escort cards held in place by elegant ginger jar card holders complemented the colorful floral and citrus laden centerpiece garland. In keeping with the summer theme, the menu offered culinary delights that ranged from tropical mimosas and zucchini waffle panzanella salad to a refreshing berry banana split topped with a whipped mascarpone.
The gentle sounds of a harp served as an elegant accompaniment to what was sure to be one of the last brunches of the summer and the beginning of new ventures. Story by Nkechi Afiesimama
